I was very lucky to be invited to The Royal Gunpowder Mills
by Sarah Deane
so that I could both see her new exhibition "Powder
" and have a good look around. It's a fascinating place and I highly recommend you visit if you can, especially as it might not be open for too much longer due to redevelopment. Sarah's exhibition is well worth seeing - the work has been lovingly shot over a long period and is beautifully presented. There is also an exhibition about the women who worked there at the turn of the century and some of the photography is stunning. The slideshow below is my edit from the day and I couldn't resist going for my usual high contrast black and white look as there were so many amazing textures and details to uncover. I also took some shots on an old Brownie camera and I'll post those here when I get round to having the film developed - don't hold your breath!
