Pottery Workshop at Cupola Pottery

December 29, 2013  •  1 Comment

This morning I went with my wife and son to the Cupola Pottery workshop run by my friends Nicky, Chris and Jean where we had a brilliant time making a selection of items. I was amazed how much we got done in a half day session and really enjoyed using the wheel in particular which though difficult wasn't as hard as I expected it to be. We were all really pleased with our finished items which will now be fired and glazed for us by Chris and Jean who are great teachers - patient and very clear with their instructions and good fun to boot. A big thanks to Nicky for her patience showing us how to use the wheel too! Once we receive our finished items I will update this post with extra pictures (in colour!) showing how they look in all their glory. I highly recommend Cupola if you're in the area.

Lovely action pictures and close-ups. I got a real sense of making a pot. I particularly like the shots of the facial expressions. And I like the black and white. I can imagine that the colour of they clay would be quite distracting and draw the eye to it if the shots were in colour.
